3 September 2018 Newsbrief 33 Fund raising for expert to represent CLOUD

At the CLOUD meeting on 30th August, members agreed to start raising funds to finance an expert on housing needs to appear on CLOUD’s behalf at the forthcoming Planning Inquiry into the Lancaster Local Plan.  As those present at the meeting will know, we believe that the Local Plan overstates the number of new houses needed to be built in Lancaster and by a substantial margin. The reasons for this are complex and will be summarised in the minutes of the meeting which we will publish shortly.  We are convinced that we need an expert to make this case for us at the Planning Inquiry and the meeting agreed that Neil McDonald was best suited to this task since he has just completed a report into the housing need calculations in the Lancaster Local Plan. We also agreed to a target of £2000 to cover his likely fee and expenses.

We passed round the CLOUD collecting box at the meeting and I undertook to let supporters know how much we had raised.  The answer, which I am most delighted to report, is that we raised £635 on the night.  I’ve now deposited this money in the CLOUD account at the Cumberland.  Whilst in the Cumberland, I checked our account balance and it’s apparent that a number of additional donations have been made since our meeting.  I’ll let you know the exact figure once I receive the August bank statement. In the meantime, many thanks to everyone who has already donated so generously.

If you haven’t already made a donation, we would encourage you please to do so.  Here are the details of the CLOUD account at the Cumberland. Donations can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
