More greenfield South Lancaster Development and Gladman’s update
1.22/00885/OUT Land North Of Ashford House Ashton Road Lancaster Lancashire
Outline application for development of up to 70 dwellings with public open space and associated infrastructure and creation of a new access.
This proposed development has implications both for traffic and congestion on Ashton Road and the Pointer roundabout and for impact on wildlife and biodiversity. This conflicts with Policy DM 43 where ‘‘development proposals that will result in damage to the integrity of or severance of a green corridor will be resisted by the Council’. The application is especially worrying, be set alongside the proliferation of other greenfield applications and development in South Lancaster. Search under View Planning Applications and Decisions
Here is an article in the Lancaster Guardian highlighting concerns. Click here for the article.

2. 19/01135/OUT | Outline planning application for the demolition of Low Hill House and the erection of up to 644 dwellings - link to CLOUD response
CLOUD members who objected to GLADMAN AMENDMENTS 19/01135/OUT may be interested in the following article which includes an overview of concerns - including CLOUD, South Lancaster Flood Group, Scotforth Parish Council, Lancashire County Council's School Planning Team and NHS Morecambe Bay Trust. As the Lancaster Guardian article makes clear, this development relies on the proposed reconfiguration of M6 J33 and associated link roads if additional traffic flows through Galgate are to be avoided. The current rate of inflation must raise serious concerns about the viability of this road scheme - the original 2019 cost estimates for it made it one of the most expensive garden village infrastructure schemes and costs have risen substantially since then.
