Charles Ainger, of the Sustainable Lancaster in Climate Emergency (SLICE) Steering Group, delivered a powerful speech at the Full Lancaster City Council Meeting, urging the Council to extricate itself from the plan to build 9185 houses linked to the Housing Infrastructure Fund road scheme for South Lancaster.

After been turned down on 10 October 2022 to build 115 houses on Highland Brow Wain Homes have put in a ‘revised’ outline planning application for 108 houses. All the previous issues remain : Damaging biodiversity, traffic pressure on Salford Road, Construction traffic, pressure on overloaded sewage system, flood risks, green buffer zone with proposed Bailrigg Garden Village.
